Rio Olympics 2016 budget dwarfed by London 2012, Sochi 2014
Rio Olympics 2016 today revealed a budget of 7 billion Brazilian real (£1.8 billion/$2.9 billion/€2.1 billion) for its hosting of the Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
The updated figure represents a 27 per cent increase above the original cost estimation of 5.5 billion real (£1.4 billion/$2.3 billion/€1.7 billion) for the sporting showpiece, but this is owing to introduction of four new sports - rugby sevens, golf, Paracanoe, and Paratriathlon - to the Games programme and inflation, according to the Organising Committee.

Manny Pacquiao attacks Mayweather: "Maraming mga dahilan naman yun"
Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao recently signed a contract extension with Bob Arum’s Top Rank promotion that made an already unlikely fight with Floyd Mayweather even more improbable.
The undefeated Mayweather refuses to do business with Pacquiao as long as he is promoted by Arum, and the extension keeps the Filipino southpaw in the promoter’s fold until 2016, possibly until the end of his career.
“Maraming mga dahilan naman yun eh (He always has an excuse),” Pacquiao told reporters at the launch of “Safe Steps,” a disaster preparedness initiative headed by Prudence Foundation and National Geographic on Thursday at the Mariott Hotel Manila.

AFC CHALLENGE CUP 2014: Philippine Azkals vs Laos FULL MATCH REPLAY
The Philippine national football team, the Azkals, jumped to the top of the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup Group B table temporarily, after besting Laos 2-0, Thursday at the Addu Football Stadium in Addu City, Maldives. It was the first time in the history of the Azkals that they've beaten the Laos national side.
The Azkals started the game better than their last assignment versus Afghanistan, perhaps due to a better boat ride to the stadium. Phil Younghusband and Rob Gier were back in the Starting XI after serving out their suspensions. Roland Muller replaced Neil Etheridge in goal, as Etheridge came off the last game injured.

Three more pros for Gilas Pilipinas pool?
There’s a strong possibility that three more PBA players may be included in the 24-man Gilas pool being assembled for submission to FIBA as a requirement for accreditation to play in the World Cup in Spain on Aug. 30-Sept. 14.
The deadline for submission of the 24-man lineup is June 30. Only players from the 24-man list may be picked to comprise the 12-man roster to be submitted to FIBA by the second deadline sometime in July. Changes to the 12-man cast may be made during the team managers’ meeting the day before the start of the competition but switches are subject to approval of the organizing committee with a penalty fee of $3,200 for every player. Replacements may come only from the original 24-man lineup.
