Will Manny Pacquiao play on PBA opening day?

Eight-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is still unsure if he is going to suit up when KIA Motors makes its Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) debut on October 19.
KIA is scheduled to tangle with fellow expansion team Blackwater Elite on opening day and Pacquiao is raring to go into action.

San Mig Coffee clinches a historic PBA Grandslam (VIDEO)

The San Mig Coffee Mixers clinched a historic Grand Slam – something accomplished just four times prior in PBA history – after barely edging Rain or Shine, 92-89, in a classic do-or-die Game Five in the PLDT Home Telpad Governors’ Cup on Wednesday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
San Mig Coffee clinched a fourth straight championship and completed a historic sweep of all three conferences this season to give coach Tim Cone his 18th career championship and the honor of being the only coach to win the Grand Slam twice.

Jeffrey Cariaso can end Barangay Ginebra's title drought, says Tenorio

If things continue to go well for Barangay Ginebra, the Gin Kings will see their first title win in 6 years. And LA Tenorio believes it will happen because of their coach Jeffrey Cariaso.
The crowd favorite has had several coaching changes since 2013, starting with Al Francis Chua, then Ato Agustin.

Before the PBA Governors’ Cup began, the team management decided to change coaches yet again by bringing in retired player and former San Mig Coffee assistant coach Cariaso.

San Mig Coffee battling mental fatigue in PBA Grand Slam quest

It is mental fatigue, not physical exhaustion, that has been the biggest obstacle for the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers in their quest to complete a Grand Slam in the ongoing PBA season, says head coach Tim Cone.
The Mixers have won three consecutive titles starting from last season’s Governors' Cup, and have also clinched the Philippine Cup and the Commissioner's Cup in the 2014 season.

Marc Pingris escape suspension but slaps P40,000 fine for punching Sena

SAN Mig forward Marc Pingris escaped suspension but was slapped a P40,000 fine by PBA commissioner Chito Salud for punching Meralco big man James Sena during their game on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Salud affirmed the Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 assessed on Pingris, which also meted him an automatic ejection during the waning minutes of the second period of the Mixers' 108-90 victory over the struggling Bolts.

Manny Pacquiao answers critics questioning his entry to PBA

Manny Pacquiao assured fight fans that he will try to avoid injuries in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) while serving as playing-coach for expansion team KIA Motors.
Even as the team management is working out the PBA Rookie Draft issue that could hamper his entry to the league, Pacquiao appeared sure about his chances of playing in Asia's first pay-for-play league.

The San Mig Super Coffee Mixers rallied past the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters for a 99-91 victory in Game Four to win the PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup on Thursday at PhilSports Arena.

The Mixers won the third jewel in the PBA’s triple crown and moved one more tournament away from winning the league’s coveted Grand Slam.

Jeffrey Cariaso introduces triangle offense to Barangay Ginebra

Jeffrey Cariaso's first order of business as the new head coach of Barangay Ginebra was to introduce the triangle offense, saying that the Kings will be a disciplined team that can run as well.
"It was good to get our first practice under our belt," Cariaso said in an interview with philstar following the team’s first practice on Monday. "It was basic. I introduced the triangle, and talked about my expectations, my visions."

After beating 'larong mayaman' SMB, Yeo believes Air21 has shot vs San Mig Coffee

Air 21 star guard Joseph Yeo was at the center of controversy in the PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals for comments he made after getting ejected in the do-or-die game between the Express and the San Miguel Beermen.
“I know these guys, mga larong mayaman yan kaya walang nangyayari sa team na yan,” Yeo said of his former teammates at the Beermen camp. After scoring 11 points, he was ejected in the second quarter after a low blow against San Miguel Beer guard Chris Ross.

PBA 2014: San Mig Coffee vs Alaska GAME 3 FULL REPLAY VIDEO

The San Mig Super Coffee Mixers ended the title reign of the Alaska Aces after an 79-65 victory in the deciding Game Three of their PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals on Saturday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Yeng Guiao fined P100k for 'mongoloid' remark on Cliff Hodge

Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao incurred a hefty fine yet again, this time due to his confrontation with Meralco player Cliff Hodge during a game last Wednesday.
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) slapped the Elasto Painters tactician with a P100,000 fine for calling Hodge a “mongoloid” after the player’s attack on Rain or Shine’s Raymond Almazan.

Mark Caguioa blasts teammates in Ginebra after quarterfinals ouster

Ginebra star Mark Caguioa pulled no punches as he lambasted his teammates after the Gin Kings were eliminated in the PBA Commissioners Cup quarter-finals by the top-seeded Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters Tuesday night.
Ginebra’s Commissioners Cup campaign ended on a brutal note as they were routed by TNT, 97-84, allowing the Texters to advance to the semi-finals. Caguioa scored 19 points in a losing effort.

Early Wednesday morning, Caguioa hit out at his teammates for their "soft and lazy" play, claiming that not even a legendary NBA coach could have brought such a team to the PBA semi-finals.

Import Josh Powell leaving Ginebra to sign with Houston Rockets

After two games, former Los Angeles Lakers big man Josh Powell is leaving Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

Team executive Robert Non said that Powell has asked permission to allow him to sign with the Houston Rockets in the NBA. The Rockets are currently holding the fourth seed in the Western Conference standings.

“Kasi if ever makukuha niya yung offer sa Houston Rockets, it will be considered as one year, which will be counted to his pension,” Non told a small group of sportswriters.

San Mig Coffee, San Miguel Beer face off in crucial match in race to No.2

SAN Mig Super Coffee and sister team San Miguel Beer face off in an important match in the race to the the No. 2 playoff seeding in the lone PBA Commissioner’s Cup Saturday game at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Mixers (4-2) managed to snap their two-game skid on Wednesday when they plastered Air21 Express, 97-84, behind a lethal defensive job in the second half.

Coach Tim Cone said the victory over the Express gives the Mixers the momentum they need heading to their 6 p.m. match with the second-running Beermen (5-2), who are coming off a two-week layoff.
