James Yap-Calvin Abueva rivalry: Kissing and Flopping (VIDEO)
On Tuesday, the Alaska Aces and the San Mig Coffee Mixers will meet for the first time since their Commissioner’s Cup semifinals duel last April.
This means that San Mig Coffee swingman James Yap and Alaska rookie Calvin Abueva will once gain renew their rivalry, which got heated during their series last conference.
It started in Game One, when Abueva tried to get Yap’s goat with trash-talk. The two-time Most Valuable Player, however, had a witty response.
“Sinasabihan niya kasi ako ng, ‘Ang gwapo mo, ang gwapo mo,” Yap told InterAKTV. “Kaya ang ginawa ko na lang, sinabihan ko siya na, ‘Sige, i-kiss mo ako.’”
Abueva, however, got the best of Yap in the succeeding games, as the Mixers superstar uncharacteristically lost his cool while accusing the Alaska forward of flopping. Abueva, however, said it was his tight defense that got to Yap.
