The target of his ire? The referees, who according to Caguioa missed several crucial calls, including what he says should have been a foul in his final attempt to tie the game.

“Makikita mo na parang bulag talaga dahil hindi nila nakita yung travelling ni (Alaska import) McKines nung huli. Hindi nila nakita yun then hindi rin nila nakita yung foul,” Caguioa told sportswriters.

“I suggest na kung hindi makita ng mga referees yung mga ganun, I think we should add three more referees. I’m not insulting them, but I think we need one more.”

Caguioa clarified that his frustration was not with his team’s loss, but with how the refeerees handled the calls.

“I’d rather have us players deciding the game, but not the referees,” he said. “So many games like that yung sila ang nag-di-decide. The players and the coaches, we work hard before the game. We played back-to-back games, then ang magdi-decide na lang sila na lang.”

Caguioa called on the PBA to fix what he sees as a problem with the officiating.

“At least makita naman nila sana yung problema. I’m not saying anything bad about them. It’s how it went,” said Caguioa.

“I’d rather have me shooting the shot na doon kami natatalo. Not on the referees not calling the travelling. Not calling the foul. Nakakainis eh parating makikita mo na lang na magagalit yung coach nung kabila ganun din dito sa kabila.”

Caguioa said the reaction of PBA players, coaches, and fans toward referees here are indicative of the problem.

“In the NBA, hindi mo makikita yan. They’re more cool. Dito mo lang makikita yung halos minumura na sila. Yung magkaroon ba sana sila ng konting respeto. Konting respect sa mga players and at the same time makikita rin nila yun,” said Caguioa.
