Marc Pingris believes 100% Gilas will beat Kazakhstan
FIBA ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP 2013: If Gilas Pilipinas learned their lesson from the game against Hong Kong, then they are bound to win their FIBA Asia quarterfinal face-off opposite Kazakhstan set Friday night at the MOA Arena.
In a video interview by Solar Sports Desk Wednesday night, Pingris said their experience versus Hong Kong only proves no team can take any opponent lightly in this biennial tournament.
Rajko Toroman says Gilas Pilipinas can beat China
Former Philippine national team coach Rajko Toroman believes Gilas Pilipinas has a chance in beating an injury-plagued China team in the FIBA Asia Championship 2013.
Toroman said that if the Nationals play just like they did against Japan, it is possible that they could defeat the once formidable Chinese squad.

FIBA Asia 2013: Chinese Taipei vs Qatar Full Game Replay Video
Qatar dealt Chinese Taipei its first loss of the tournament, 71-68, on Wednesday in a thriller at the Mall of Asia Arena that had major implications in the FIBA Asia Championship playoffs.
Longtime Qatar star Yasseen Musa had a monster effort, finishing with 20 points and 19 rebounds.
Naturalized center Quincy Davis led the way with 22 points and eight rebounds for Chinese Taipei. But the team’s other stars fired blanks, with Tien Lei and Tseng Wen-Ting combining for just seven points and Lin Chih-Chieh failing to score.

Old rivalries to renew in FIBA Asia 2013 Quarterfinals

Gilas Pilipinas grab No.1 spot; beats Hong Kong
FIBA Asia Championship 2013. The Philippine national men’s basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, flirted with disaster in the first three quarters before cleaning up its act in the final period to defeat Hong Kong, 67-55, on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The victory formally gave Gilas Pilipinas the top spot in Group E, but not before a poor start that had coach Chot Reyes fuming at the sidelines.

Shooting guard Jeff Chan is confident the Philippine basketball team collectively known as Gilas Pilipinas can defeat any team, specifically China, in the ongoing FIBA-Asia Championship.
According to Chan, all they need is to have faith in one another knowing that they have prepared well in order to achieve whatever goal they have in mind for this tournament.

FIBA Asia 2013: Philippines vs Qatar Full Game Replay Video
Gilas Pilipinas unleashed a torrid second-quarter assault to rip Qatar apart, 80-70, and score its second straight win in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship on Tuesday, August 6 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
After allowing the visitors to claw back from an early deficit, the Philippine team broke the game wide open with a 23-4 run punctuated by a Gary David basket to erect a 47-27 advantage just before half time. Sensing blood,
Gilas stepped on the gas pedal further in the 3rd quarter, trying to go for the kill. The home crew proved to be successful as Qatar's defense failed to stop the Philippines from building a 55-32 lead off two free-throws by Marcus Douthit.
FIBA Asia 2013: Gilas Pilipinas rips unbeaten Qatar
The Gilas Pilipinas, Philippine national men’s basketball team, put together another fine defensive performance to come away with an 80-70 victory vs Qatar on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
But Gilas Pilipinas had to contend with a late threat from the Qataris, who cut a 23-point lead down to just nine points, 74-65, with just 2:11 remaining. But Gabe Norwood coming up with a pair of big defensive stops on naturalized star Jarvis Hayes as Qatar managed just five points, including a three-pointer at the buzzer, the rest of the way.

FIBA Asia 2013: Philippines vs Japan Full Game Replay Video
The Philippine national men’s basketball team played its best basketball of the FIBA Asia Championship so far, posting an impressive 90-71 beatdown of Japan on Monday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Coming off a heartbreaking loss to Chinese Taipei last Saturday, Gilas Pilipinas showed its resilience with pinpoint shooting and suffocating defense to book its first victory in the second round of the tournament.
“We wanted to forget about the last game,” said Gilas coach Chot Reyes.

What a statement. Gilas Pilipinas showed it can bounce back from a tough loss, dealing Japan an emphatic 90-71 demolition to open the second round with a bang in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship on Monday, August 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Marcus Douthit asserted himself early and often while Filipino sniper Jeff Chan came alive in a searing 3rd quarter breakaway that gave the Philippines a huge cushion enough to secure their 3rd win in 4 games.

It was a tight contest between Qatar and Jordan, in the first half at least. Qatar then made it a lopsided match as it took over from the penultimate quarter towards the final buzzer and made easy work of Jordan, 75-61, and start the second round of the 2013 FIBA-Asia Championship.
