Former world champion and now Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya believes Mexican prodigy Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will not just beat Floyd Mayweather, but knock him out cold as well.

In an interview with Boxing Scene, De La Hoya expressed his confidence that the 22-year-old Alvarez can stop Mayweather, the premier defensive fighter of his generation. 

The on-again, off-again, on-again with conditions bout between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao looks to be off again, after the undefeated American boxer told Michigan Live reporter David Mayo, 

"He's [Pacquiao] not going to get a chance to fight me."

Speaking in an interview in Las Vegas, where Mayweather is training for his upcoming bout against Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, Mayweather said, "Me and Pacquiao had a chance to make a fight in the past, and basically that's the best place I'd like to leave it [in the past].

Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the highest-paid professional athlete in the United States with expected earnings of at least $90 million this year from just two bouts, according to Sports Illustrated magazine.

The 36-year-old welterweight - considered the best defensive boxer of his generation - topped the magazine's Fortunate 50 list, issued on Wednesday. Mayweather also took the top spot last year, earning an estimated $85 million, again from just two fights, the magazine reported.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. put on a boxing clinic as he thoroughly outclassed Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero in their 12-round welterweight clash Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas (Sunday morning in Manila).

Mayweather found his rhythm early in the fight, landed his straight right hand with regularity, and neutralized Guerrero’s offense on his way to a clear unanimous decision victory.

The three judges scored the bout 117-111 across the board.

Mayweather remains undefeated in his professional career, extending his winning streak to 44 fights.

But fellow American Guerrero, 31-1 with 18 knockouts and a 15-fight win streak dating to 2005, sees himself as having been given this opportunity in order to humble Mayweather by inflicting the first loss of his career.

As predicted by many boxing experts, Mayweather won the fight via unanimous decision as 3 judges scored 117-111, 117-111 and 118-110. 

After the fight, Floyd Mayweather's new record is now 43 wins, 0 loss, while Miguel Cotto now has 37 wins and 3 losses.
