NBA MVP LeBron James: "I want to be the greatest of all time"
LeBron James is not saying much of anything about next season. The second edition of ''The Decision'' is still nine months away, and the four-time NBA MVP is all too aware of the already-incessant buzz about what uniform he will be wearing a year from now.
He's not interested in talking about that. There's more important matters to tend to first, he said Monday (Tuesday in Manila), on the eve of the formal start to his fourth training camp with the Miami Heat.
Meralco ties the series 1-1 vs San Mig Coffee (REPLAY VIDEO)
The Meralco Bolts figured in another defensive slugfest against the San Mig Coffee Mixers, but this time came out on top with a 73-69 victory on Tuesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
With the win, the Bolts tied the series at 1-all. Meralco used a balanced attack to win its first final four game in franchise history, with five players finishing in double-figures. Mario West struggled from the field anew, scoring 17 points but going just 8-of-36 (22 percent) from the field.

A total of 19 players have been invited by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) to comprise the pool from which members of the national team will be culled for the coming 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar.
SBP executive director Sonny Barrios said head coach Jong Uichico along with deputies Nash Racela and Josh Reyes came up with the names of the players likely to comprise the squad out to defend the basketball title in the December 11-22 biennial meet.
Barrios said the country’s governing body for the sport will be submitting the names of all 19 players to the SEA Games Task Force either on October 8 or 9. The deadline for the submission of entry by names is October 10.
Alaska import Wendell McKines plays with kids on street (VIDEO)
The Alaska Aces season may have come to an end, but import Wendell McKines is not yet done playing hoops. On Tuesday, he posted a video of him playing basketball in a street court near his home.
“The love for basketball here is strong and pure. I remember riding to practice and seeing people outside playing either bare footed or wearing sandals, looking as if they were having a good time,” he wrote on his blog.

Petron defeats Rain or Shine on PBA Semis Game 1 (REPLAY VIDEO)
Elijah Millsap scored 41 points, including 11 straight during a stretch in the fourth quarter, to carry the Petron Blaze Boosters to a 91-83 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Monday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
The win gave the Boosters a 1-0 lead in their best-of-five Governors’ Cup finals series.
“I think he bailed us out tonight,” said Petron coach Gee Abanilla on Millsap, who added 14 rebounds.

Point laureate Ronnie Magsanoc may have proven a point that will secure his bosom buddy’s distinct place in PBA history.
Magsanoc said that for top rookie and MVP candidate Calvin Abueva to have a shot at basketball immortality, it is imperative for his Alaska Aces to achieve a strong finish in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup.
Cliff Hodge disowns tweet calling for Ryan Gregorio's resignation
Meralco rookie Cliff Hodge on Sunday night quickly disowned a tweet that called for the resignation of Bolts coach Ryan Gregorio, saying his Twitter account was hacked.
The Twitter world went ablaze shortly after the Bolts’ 83-73 loss to San Mig in Game One of their PBA Governors Cup semifinal series (watch full game replay video here) when a tweet fired from Hodge’s account.
@therealchodge1: “Coach Ryan should resign immediately before HE LOSES another game for the team!!!!”
