As a teenager Pacquiao often played sandlot basketball with neighborhood friends and built a court after he won the IBF world super bantamweight title with a 6th round TKO over Lelohonolo Ledwaba on June 23, 2001 in Las Vegas.

UAAP 77: Commissioner Andy Jao's statement on FEU-Ateneo issue (VIDEO)

UAAP Season 77 Men's Seniors Basketball: UAAP commissioner Andy Jao has upheld Ateneo's 68-64 overtime victory over Far Eastern University last Saturday.

Gilas Pilipinas rises three places in FIBA rankings after World Cup stint

The Philippines national team's stint in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup gave the country a bump in the latest world rankings released by the international basketball body.

From No. 34, the Philippines rose three spots to No. 31 after Gilas Pilipinas finished 21st out of 24 teams in the world championship. Gilas won just one game in the World Cup against Senegal, but became darlings of the tournament after tough defeats against fancied opposition Croatia, Greece, Argentina, and Puerto Rico.

UAAP 77: UE beats UST to force playoff for last final four berth

The University of the East (UE) Red Warriors are hoping to continue their late season surge as they wrap up their UAAP Season 77 elimination round campaign against the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tuesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

A win over the Growling Tigers will put the Red Warriors' record at 9-5, tying them with the National University (NU) Bulldogs and forcing a playoff for the last spot in the Final Four.

Philippine national men’s basketball team swingman Gabe Norwood’s dunk over Argentinean NBA player Luis Scola made the list of Top 10 Plays from the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.

A video of the Top 10 Plays was posted on the FIBA website on Sunday and Gilas Pilipinas’ high-flying Norwood clocked in at No. 3 behind monster dunks by USA big man Kenneth Faried of the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Kalinic of runner-up Serbia.

UAAP 77: FEU protests their costly defeat to Ateneo

Far Eastern University (FEU) has put under protest its costly loss to the Ateneo Blue Eagles in their second-round game of the UAAP Season 77 men's basketball tournament last September 13.

The Tamaraws lost to the Blue Eagles, 64-68, in overtime, allowing Ateneo to seal the top spot and earn a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four, while sending FEU into a virtual best-of-three series against defending champion De La Salle University.

PBA D-League squad AMA Titans drafted teenage heart-throb Daniel Padilla as their 15th round pick – the last player to be chosen in their first ever Rookie Draft on Monday.

A school-based squad, AMA is entitled to name any player enrolled in its institution.
