It’s confirmed. Jessica Sanchez will join the fourth season of “Glee”.

Entertainment website TVLine.com reported on Monday (Tuesday morning, Manila time) that the “American Idol” runner-up “has closed a deal” to be a part of the popular musical series but provided no further details.

“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the news on Twitter for the website’s reporter and shared an idea on the same post.

“Michael Ausiello broke news of Jessica Sanchez on Glee. With voices like Jessica, Lea, Naya, Melissa, Amber, and Jenna…Streisand episode?” Ryan tweeted following the report.

In late June, TVLine.com first reported that Jessica’s representatives were “close to signing a deal” for her to appear midway through season 4 of “Glee”.

The 17-year-old singer, whose mother Editha hails from Bataan, will be the second Filipino celebrity to appear on the show. During season 2, Charice made waves as exchange student Sunshine Corazon, the pint-sized diva who gave Rachel Berry, played by Lea Michele, a run for her money.

Jessica is currently preparing for the launch of her debut album with Interscope Records, set for release before Christmas.

Abuzz fans

Meanwhile, the words “Jessica Sanchez on Glee” made it to the local trending topics on Twitter around noon on Tuesday.

A lot of Sanchez’s fans were abuzz that the 17-year-old singer will be joining the hit show.

According to Twitter user @yourHighnessJLo, he now has “a reason to watch the current season of Glee. Jessica Sanchez on Glee.”

Twitter user ‏@IN2jeff also said he will watching the show again now that Sanchez will be there.

Twitter user ‏@marzie18, meantime, said she will begin to watch the show since she now has a “valid reason” to catch it.

This was echoed by Twitter user ‏@abcde_EFF. He said: “Jessica Sanchez on Glee, well more reasons to watch Glee.”

Twitter user ‏@ClaudeDee also noted that Sanchez will be the first “American Idol” alumnus to appear on “Glee.”
