Lebron James says Filipinos are passionate people
Awed by the Filipinos' passion for basketball, LeBron James wonders why it took him so long to visit the Philippines.
What stood out for the Miami Heat star? The Filipinos' passion, especially for basketball.
"So far, so great. I'm so happy to be here," he said. "It's a great culture. They're (Filipinos) passionate about what they do."
James shared that his Heat coach, Filipino-American Erik Spoelstra, has talked to him about the Filipinos' legendary love for the sport.
"Basketball being huge, I'm happy to be here just trying to inspire people the best way I can," he said.
Now that he's experienced it first-hand, this visit, he says, will definitely not be the last.
"Can't believe it's my first time to visit here," the 4-time NBA MVP told reporters in a press conference at the Makati Shangri-La on July 23, Tuesday. "But this definitely won't be my last."
In the country as part of the Nike #WitnessHistory tour, James talked about his career, his youth initiatives, his social media life and his youth.
