Philippine Youth team sweeps SEABA Under-18; book ticket to FIBA Asia Under-18

The Philippine national youth basketball team showed no mercy in dismantling Singapore, 124-63, to sweep the 2014 Southeast Asian Under-18 basketball championship on Wednesday in Sabah, Malaysia.
The win capped the dominant run for the Filipino youngsters, who made quick work of Indonesia (98-35) and Malaysia (93-76) in their previous games.

Thirdy Ravena officially commits to Ateneo Blue Eagles

UAAP Juniors Most Valuable Player (MVP) Thirdy Ravena is not going anywhere. After starring for the Ateneo Blue Eaglets in high school, the versatile forward has committed to play for the Blue Eagles in the UAAP seniors division.

Thirdy, the younger brother of former Rookie of the Year Kiefer Ravena, made the announcement on his Twitter account.

“It’s official. Finally teammates with Kiefer Ravena for the first time,” Thirdy tweeted Wednesday afternoon.

Thirdy Ravena, Arvin Tolentino commit to Ateneo Blue Eagles

ATENEO'S rebuilding program after seeing its run of five straight UAAP championships come to an end this season got a major boost when blue-chip prospects Arvin Tolentino and Thirdy Ravena committed to join the Blue Eagles beginning next season, sources said.
The 6-foot-5 Tolentino is widely regarded as the finest junior player in the country today, having won championships in all his years with the San Beda Red Cubs while standing out in several national teams in campaigns overseas.

Thirdy Ravena open to play for Ateneo with brother Kiefer

THIRDY Ravena has yet to decide where to play in college, but considering the controversial UAAP residency requirement for transferees and a possible partnership with elder brother Kiefer, the rising star may just stay put at Ateneo.

Thirdy said that aside from his father, former pro Bong Ravena, big brother Kiefer was a key factor in the development of his game and the younger Ravena is open to the possibility of being teammates with the current King Blue Eagle.

Philippine team wins gold in FIBA Asia 3×3 Under-18 Championships

The Philippine team, a four-man squad composed of former national youth team stalwarts Arvin Tolentino and Prince Rivero as well as second-generation players Kobe Paras and Thirdy Ravena, clinched the gold medal in the FIBA Asia 3×3 Under-18 Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.


The Filipinos rattled off six straight wins, including a win over a much taller, unbeaten Chinese squad in the semifinals and a tight decision over India in the finals to win the championship.
