GMA-7 answers back the disapproval of CBCP on 'My Husbands Lover'

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) expressed its disapproval on GMA-7 hit primetime series "My Husband's Lover".

"My Husband's Lover," the first gay-themed series in Philippine television starring Dennis Trillo, Carla Abellana, and Tom Rodriguez tackles sensitive yet relevant social issues about homosexual relationships, the society's discrimination against homosexuals and infidelity.

“Malaking pag-aaral ang dapat na gawin sa mga bagong teleserye tulad ng My Husband’s Lover na sana maisaalang-alang na nasa isang bansa tayo na mayroong kultura na pinapahalagahan ang usaping moral o mga bagay na saklaw ng moralidad. Ito ang dapat na isaalang-alang ng mga gumagawa ng teleserye.” CBCP-ECY Executive Secretary Fr. Kunegundo Garganta said in an interview.

The same sentiments was also aired by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) through Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte.

Valte encourages viewers to immediately report to the agency any scenes from the program that they might find too offensive for primetime viewing. “So ini-encourage na lang po natin yung mga magulang, kapag meron po kayong nakita na sa inyong pakiramdam ay hindi po angkop doon sa ibinigay na rating ay i-report po natin agad sa MTRCB.” he said.

In the statement sent by GMA Network to Showbiznest on Wednesday, the Kapuso network said they are willing to cooperate with the CBCP and MTRCB should they require further evaluation of the said program.

GMA Network welcomes the scrutiny of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) of our primetime program ‘My Husband’s Lover’.

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board or MTRCB has given the program an SPG (Strong Parental Guidance) rating and GMA is committed to comply with all its standards.
