PBA: San Mig Coffee vs GlobalPort Brawl (VIDEO)

Benches cleared for Global Port and San Mig Coffee Wednesday night after several players from both teams went at each other in the third quarter of their game at the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Thrown out of the playing court at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City were San Mig Coffee’s Marc Pingris and GlobalPort’s Kelly Nabong.

Given technical fouls were San Mig Coffee import Marqus Blakely and GlobalPort’s Marvin Hayes for committing “second motion”. Aside from the technical foul, Blakely was also given a double foul.

Joe De Vance of San Mig Coffee was also slapped a technical foul for second motion.

MARC PINGRIS.
“Mahal ko mga teammates kaya ayoko silang masaktan.”

This was how Marc Pingris justified his actions after he was thrown out of the game after figuring in a scuffle with GlobalPort center Kelly Nabong in the highly-physical encounter between the San Mig Coffee Mixers and the Batang Pier on Wednesday.

According to Pingris, Nabong was there with the intention to get into a fight.

“OK lang sana kung aawat sya eh kaso tinulak nya si Joe (Devance) ng malakas kaya bumagsak tapos nakita ko poporma sya sa akin kaya inunahan ko,” added Pingris in an exclusive interview with InterAKTV.

The free-for-all started when Marvin Hayes and San Mig import Marqus Blakely got entangled and went down the floor. Devance came to the aid of the import by slightly pushing Hayes, who flopped to sell a call.

Nabong then came out of nowhere and pushed Devance, who fell hard. Pingris retaliated trying to punch Nabong, who tried to knee the San Mig Coffee forward.

“Nasangga ko yung pagtuhod nya sa akin, kaya ginawa ko binigyan ko ng isa pa,” added Pingris.

Both Pingris and Nabong were thrown out of the game for fighting while hefty fines and possible suspension await the players.

“Nangyayari talaga yan eh. First time kong makipag-away sa PBA,” added Pingris.
