Marc Pingris still believe San Mig Coffee will win championship
“Sa amin pa rin yan.” San Mig Coffee forward Marc Pingris remained confident about his Mixers’ chances in the PLDT Telpad Governors’ Cup finals despite dropping Game Six to Petron on Wednesday.
The Mixers’ defensive ace was a key part of San Mig Coffee’s rally in the fourth quarter, when they came back from 11 points down to grab the lead. But he had to go out of the game after hurting his ankle after slipping on the court.
“Nadulas kasi kanina si James (Yap) doon kanina, kaya sabi ko parang may langis, sinabi ko sa referee,” Pingris told InterAKTV. “Doon din ako nadulas, pagka-apak ko nadulas ako tapos biglang kumapit.”
He wasn’t sure if he would be well enough to attend the Mixers’ practice on Thursday. “Depende yan pag-gising ko bukas,” he said.
But he said there’s no way the pain would keep him out in Game Seven on Friday.
“Medyo may pain pa kapag inaapak, pero kaya yan, laban na yan,” he said.
He also predicted a San Mig Coffee victory in Game Four, and was proven right as the Mixers emerged victorious then.
For his vision to come true a second time, however, he noted the Mixers needed to make minor adjustments for the season’s ultimate game, especially on the defensive end.
“Kailangan mag-adjust kami sa mga foul. Kapag kasi foul-trouble kami hindi kami makadepensa ng maayos,” said Pingris.
