Akon Wants Jessica Sanchez To Be Eliminated

R&B Recording Artist, Songwriter and Music Producer Akon told E! Online during the 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami that he hopes Jessica Sanchez would be voted off in the American Idol Season 11.

His reason? So he can offer her a recording contract.

Here’s Akon Statement:

“I know I shouldn’t be saying this, but I kind of want her to get voted off so I can sign her. She’s beyond the talent that’s supposed to be there. I think she’s overqualified, I really do.”

“And she’s only 16,” Akon added, “Like, I’ve been around a lot of superstars. I haven’t seen anyone at that age sing like that.”

Jessica Sanchez sings 'Dance With My Father' on American Idol 11 Top 6 Show

Jessica Sanchez once again wowed me (and hopefully you too) with her own rendition of "Dance With My Father' originally sang by Luther Vandross during the American Idol 11 Top 6 Performance Show

Her performance was really full of emotions and you can feel it through her voice and see it on Jessica’s action on how she misses her father so badly. In short, Jessica owned the song and performed it so naturally.

Anyway, Jessica still needs your vote for her not to be eliminated tomorrow. You only have 2 hours to vote after the show.

Here's How to Vote:

In the US,
(1) You can vote for Jessica Sanchez by calling 1-866-IDOLS-01 (1-866-436-5701)
(2) Text “VOTE” to 5705.

The PBB Dreams

Just a few days ago, another edition of Pinoy Big Brother Teen has been started. They presented a new batch of teen housemates who will live for a couple of months in the most-popular house in the country. So, without further ado, Here's an interesting story of a teacher and her 'PBB hopeful' students

By Jocy L. So-Yeung
(Teacher at Davao Christian High School)
Sun Star Davao. January 28, 2012.

HAS there been an epidemic? One day, all of the sudden, nearly a dozen students from the third year batch were absent. What happened?

The classmates grinned in response. "Nag-audition for PBB Ma'am." PBB of course is Pinoy Big Brother, the monster reality TV hit that places ordinary people in one residence, forces them to undergo unrealistic stunts, and allows the whole Philippines to watch their every move. I don't follow PBB but I know many who hound each episode like a starving dog chasing a bone.

And based on their stories, I was apprehensive upon knowing plenty of my students wanted to be in the show. A former student had already appeared on the show once, and she ended up being betrayed by a friend and looking mean and petty on TV. She was voted off, leaving the PBB house in an air of unpopularity.

Rabid watchers also tell me that the show's God-like kuya make housemates do uncomfortable things, from dancing with not a stitch of clothing on except a fan to downing liquor until they're drunk, just to stir up controversies and improve ratings.

Instagram Sold By Facebook For $1 Billion

According to Forbes News, Instagram, a photo-sharing apps for Apple Products and Androids, was bought by Facebook according to a message posted by Mark Zuckerberg. The purchase price of $1 billion will be paid in cash and Facebook shares.

Here's what Mark Zuckerberg said on his blog post:

"I'm excited to share the news that we've agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook.

For years, we've focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family. Now, we'll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests.

We believe these are different experiences that complement each other. But in order to do this well, we need to be mindful about keeping and building on Instagram's strengths and features rather than just trying to integrate everything into Facebook.

That's why we're committed to building and growing Instagram independently. Millions of people around the world love the Instagram app and the brand associated with it, and our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people.

We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keepingfeatures like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.

No-Rice-Policy Ends

It's been a week since I start my own No-Rice Policy which serves as my own penitence this Holy Week. Tonight, Easter Sunday, is the end of this penance and finally, Tomorrow... I can go back to my 'normal' eating habit. #yehey!

So what I've learned from this No-Rice-Policy-Thing ? I will say Discipline. Disiplina sa Pagkain. 'Nung Wednesday, parang nag-flasback yung sinabi sa akin ng P.E. Instructor ko, sabi niya: "Kapag tamad ka nang mag-exercise...Dapat atleast you watch what you eat. And have some discipline on eating. Hindi pwedeng busog ka na nga, pero dahil nakita mo yung paboritong mong pagkain...pipilitin mo pa ring kumain. Dapat alam mo when to say ENOUGH and when to say NO to temptations".
