Jeremy "Linsanity" Lin Joins Houston Rockets; Betrayed New York Knicks?

Jeremy Lin is officially a Houston Rocket. Now, we find out whether "Linsanity" can survive Texas heat.

The Knicks confirmed on Tuesday that they would not match the three-year, $25.1 million offer sheet Lin signed with the Houston Rockets on Friday. The club declined to comment on the stunning development while Lin took to Twitter to say, "Extremely excited and honored to be a Houston Rocket again."

The decision was both financial and emotional since Garden Chairman James Dolan was upset over Lin's decision to restructure his deal with Houston last week to include a third year salary of $14.9 million. Dolan, according to sources, felt he was deceived by the 23-year-old Lin.

"Much love and thankfulness to the Knicks and New York for your support this past year," Lin said on Twitter. "Easily the best year of my life. #ForeverGratful."

Of course, team officials privately felt that Lin's actions over the past few weeks were anything but grateful. They were upset that Lin hired a publicist without their consent and were livid that the second year point guard out of Harvard went back to the Rockets for more money.

As recently as last week, all signs pointed to Lin returning with head coach Mike Woodson even saying that Lin would be his starting point guard and that newly acquired Jason Kidd would serve as the back-up.

B-MEG Llamados Proud of Denzel Bowles' 2012 NBA Summer League Performance

B-MEG coach Tim Cone seemed like a proud father when he heard news about former Llamados’ import Denzel Bowles’ impressive showing in his NBA Summer League debut with the New Orleans Hornets.

“The B-MEG team and the entire SMC organization is so proud of him,” Cone told InterAKTV. “He will always be welcome to our B-MEG family, but I would be happier to see him fulfill his dream of playing in the NBA.”

But Cone still watched Bowles’ performance with a coach’s eye, and had some pointers for his former ward, who won Best Import in the Commissioner’s Cup and led the Llamados to the title.

“He still needs to improve his defense and has to get up and down the court quickly. But Denzel is learning and continuously improving. I’m so proud of what he has achieved,” said Cone.

Other members of the Llamados tweeted words of encouragement for their former teammate.

JC Intal (@jcintal7) :   @Denzel_Bowles congrats, big D! I feel proud watching you this morning. Great job!

“We are talking to our bankers,” PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan told reporters in a chance interview.

Rest In Peace: Comedy King Dolphy passes away at 83

Philippines' King of Comedy, Rodolfo 'Dolphy' Quizon Sr., passed away shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, his family announced that evening.

"My dad is now with his Creator," Dolphy's son, the actor-director Eric Quizon, said. The elder Quizon had been confined at the Makati Medical Center (MMC) since June 9. He would have turned 84 on July 25. Dad Dolphy is survived by partner Zsa Zsa Padilla and his 18 children.

Just over a week ago, it was reported that Dolphy's health condition had improved considerably. In fact, Quizon said last June 29 that his father already wanted to go home. "Uwi, uwi na tayo [Let's go home]," the already lucid Dolphy mouthed to his family. The veteran actor even asked for orange juice, Quizon said.

A few days ago, Dolphy's family said that the veteran actor's pneumonia was under control. He had underwent another round of dialysis and blood transfusion to boost his immune system.

In its medical bulletin Tuesday night, the MMC said Dolphy died at 8:34 p.m. due to multiple organ failure, secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and acute renal failure.
