Petron shames San Mig Coffee in PBA Finals Game 3 (REPLAY VIDEO)

The Petron Blaze Boosters bucked the absence of starting point guard Alex Cabagnot to cruise to a surprisingly easy 90-68 victory over San Mig Coffee in Game Three of the PLDT Telpad Governors’ Cup finals on Wednesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Import Elijah Millsap started at point guard for the Boosters in place of Cabagnot, leading the Boosters with 28 points and eight rebounds to take a 2-1 series lead.

“It’s something we tinkered with in the offseason,” said Petron coach Gee Abanilla of his decision to move Millsap to the one-spot with the absence of Cabagnot, who is out with an injured foot. “Medyo maganda naman ang kinalabasan.”

Philippine Azkals retain Peace Cup crown; trump Pakistan

Stephen Schroeck led the Philippine Azkals as they climbed back from the brink of defeat to outclass Pakistan, 3-1, and retain the 2013 Philippine Football Peace Cup crown in Bacolod on Tuesday night.

The Azkals, who needed to score at least 3 goals and beat Pakistan, fell behind early in the match when Kaleem Ullah opened the scoring for the visitors in the 15th minute.

Patrick Reichelt equalized for the hosts in the 33rd minute through an assist from Schroeck.

UAAP considering a ban on foreign players in 2016

The UAAP is now considering a ban on foreign players, which has become one of the more contentious issues hounding the collegiate league.

A source from the UAAP confirmed to ABS-CBNnews.com on Wednesday that the subject of banning foreign players was “informally” discussed during last month’s meeting between the presidents of the UAAP member schools.

That September meeting was called to address issues that have plagued the league in Season 76.

Kobe Paras committed to La Salle Green Archers not to UP Maroons

THE guessing game on where Kobe Paras will play his college hoops is over.

This after the 2013 World 3x3 slam dunk champion bared to that he has already committed to joining reigning UAAP champions De La Salle Green Archers when he goes to college two years from now.

After the Green Archers wrapped up Game Three of the Finals against University of Santo Tomas, Paras was spotted in the victory party with La Salle chief backer and business tycoon Danding Cojuangco.

RR Garcia to join 2013 PBA Rookie Draft; resigns from Gilas team

The coming PBA rookie draft just got more interesting. This after former Far Eastern University star and UAAP Most Valuable Player RR Garcia decided to forego his last year with the Gilas cadet pool to join a draft pool where he is expected to be the top guard prospect.

Garcia said he has already secured a release from Gilas head coach Chot Reyes as well as the permission of his D-League team NLEX through manager Ronald Dulatre.

Accompanied by FEU coach Nash Racela, Garcia asked for his release which Reyes did not hesitate to grant.

Barangay Ginebra interested to acquire Beau Belga

Barangay Ginebra governor Robert Non bared their interest to acquire big man Beau Belga.

The 6-5, 225 pound wingman is now at the center of Rain or Shine’s negotiations as his contract is expiring at the end of the month.

Non told Solar Sports Desk that they are not directly talking to Belga, but has already sent feelers to Rain or Shine.

“Nagpadala kami ng feelers sa kanila. Just to express our interest kay Beau,” said Non.
