Petron to be named San Miguel Beermen on PBA Commissioner's Cup
The San Miguel Beermen will be back in the PBA beginning in the Commissioner’s Cup as the league’s oldest franchise will carry the iconic brand once more.
No less than San Miguel Corporation president Ramon Ang made the announcement, which comes in time for the silver anniversary of the team’s Grand Slam feat in 1989.
“San Miguel Beer is synonymous to brewing excellence. We built our success as a conglomerate on San Miguel’s name. We are happy to announce its return to the PBA and we look forward to its future success,” said Ang in a statement.

“When they played zone defense medyo dun na-rattle kami because we weren’t hitting our shots,” said Ginebra coach Ato Agustin.

Tempers flared in the fourth quarter of Friday’s match between the Alaska Aces and the Meralco Bolts when Calvin Abueva was involved in a scuffle with Jared Dillinger at the 10:11 mark of the fourth quarter.
The incident began after Abueva challenged Dillinger on a drive to the basket. The two remained tangled as they fell toward the baseline, with Abueva appearing to hit Dillinger and dragging the Bolts forward along with him.

FIBA Asia official urges PBA to move Governors' Cup for Gilas
FIBA Asia communications head S. Mageshwaran said the PBA should move the Governors’ Cup to give the national team more time to prepare and allow its best players to join Gilas Pilipinas for the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
“The third and final conference of the PBA, the Governor’s Cup, can be – and in my opinion should be – put off in support of the national team,” he wrote in a column on the FIBA Asia website.
