Manny Pacquiao must win vs Rios to regain fans’ trust
Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao believes his decision to fight the dangerous Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios will go a long way in restoring the faith of fight fans in him.
Many boxing fans are wondering if Pacquiao is on the downside of his career after losing back-to-back matches, including a stoppage loss at the hands of Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez.
In an interview with Boxing Scene, Pacquiao explained why he opted to fight Rios, a hard-hitting former champion, instead of an “easier” opponent.
“I can easily choose an easy opponent or choose a tune-up fight,” Pacquiao said. “I chose to fight Brandon Rios. I chose to fight a good fighter and an aggressive fighter.”
“That’s how I can get it back. That’s how I can get back the trust and the confidence of the fans,” he said.
Pacquiao will fight Rios at Macau on November 24.
