La Salle claims UAAP 76 crown; beats UST in OT thriller

The De La Salle Green Archers survived an epic overtime match against University of Santo Tomas, 71-69, to win the UAAP Season 76 basketball title on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Almond Vosotros hit the go-ahead basket with 19 seconds left to give the Green Archers their first title since 2007, completing their comeback after losing Game One of the best-of-three series.

Petron beats San Mig Coffee in PBA Finals Game 1 (REPLAY VIDEO)

The Petron Blaze Boosters used a furious fourth quarter charge to take a 100-84 victory over the San Mig Coffee Mixers in Game One of the Governors’ Cup finals on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

After scoring just 59 points in the first three quarters, the Boosters poured down 41 huge points in the final period to book the win in their first match in the championship round since winning the tournament in 2011.

“I just thought we played a great fourth quarter,” said Petron coach Gee Abanilla, who was victorious in his first finals game as a PBA head coach. “I’m surprised also. We just got into a rhythm.”

Barangay Ginebra to pick first in 2013 PBA Rookie Draft

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel will pick first overall in the 2013 PBA draft after the Air 21 Express won the draft lottery on Friday.

The Express had a two-thirds chance of winning the top pick after finishing with the worst record this season, while GlobalPort had a one-third chance with the second-worst record.

The Gin Kings acquired the Express’ draft pick prior to the season in a multi-team trade that saw John Wilson and KG Canaleta transfer to Air 21.

Houston Rockets beats Indiana Pacers in Manila (HIGHLIGHTS VIDEO)

The Houston Rockets became the first team to win an NBA preseason game on Philippine soil, defeating the Indiana Pacers, 116-96, on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Following a splashy offseason that saw the team sign all-star center Dwight Howard, the Rockets were raring to show that they were the newest NBA title contenders. They did just that, scoring the first 12 points of the game to keep the Pacers at bay the rest of the way.

Howard struggled, finishing with nine points and three rebounds while committing five fouls and four turnovers. He also saw three of his shots blocked by Pacers center Roy Hibbert.

Juan Manuel Marquez says Manny Pacquiao chapter is closed

Is there really no chance of a fifth fight happening between archrivals Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao?

As far as Marquez is concerned, his storied rivalry with Pacquiao was over the moment he knocked out the Filipino icon in their last bout in November last year.

Marquez, who challenges WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley this Sunday, once again brushed off a fifth meeting with Pacquiao, insisting there’s no point in it.

NBA: Houston Rockets vs Indiana Pacers Free Live Streaming

Last season's NBA Eastern Conference finalists Indiana Pacers and the powered up Houston Rockets set foot in Manila to prepare for the first ever NBA game in the country.
The Indiana Pacers, led by star Paul George, who recently signed a long-term contract extension, touched down in Manila early this morning, followed by the Houston Rockets with newly-acquired Dwight Howard.

NBA Global Games Philippines 2013 tips off at 7 PM on Thursday, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
