Batang Gilas defeat Kazakhstan; to battle Japan for fifth place in FIBA Asia U-18
The Philippine national youth basketball team warded off Kazakhstan to grab an 86-74 victory in the classification round of the FIBA Asia Under-18 Championships Wednesday at the Al-Gharafa Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
Paul Desiderio led the Batang Gilas charge with 19 points as the Filipinos have the chance to finish as high as fifth in the tournament after getting knocked out of the quarterfinals last Tuesday.

Batang Gilas defeats Malaysia, to face Chinese Taipei in FIBA Asia U-18 quarters
The Philippine national youth team turned back a tough challenge from Southeast Asian rival Malaysia, 72-69, to close the second round of the FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship on Sunday (Monday morning PHL time) in Doha, Qatar.
San Beda Red Cubs guard Joshua Caracut nailed the game-winning three-pointer with 24 seconds left to give the Philippines the hard-earned win.

Batang Gilas suffers 42-point defeat vs China in FIBA Asia U-18 tilt
The Philippine national youth team, Batang Gilas, got a rude awakening against powerhouse China, 91-49, in the second round of the FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship on Saturday in Doha, Qatar.
A day after a thrilling victory over the host nation, Batang Gilas suffered a beatdown at the hands of the perennial Asian champion.
The Philippines was still in striking distance after the opening quarter, trailing by just seven points, 22-15.

Batang Gilas downs host Qatar in FIBA Asia U-18 tilt
The Philippine national youth basketball team mounted an epic fourth quarter comeback hand host Qatar a heartbreaking 81-79 defeat in the second round of the FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship in Doha.
Batang Gilas came back from a whopping 15-point deficit in the final period behind booming three-pointers and some excellent play in the clutch.

FIBA Asia U-18: Batang Gilas suffer loss to faster South Korea
Thrice former champions and last edition’s silver medallists Korea answered six-time former champions Philippines speed with a speedier response and went a couple of steps ahead in their floor management to post an 87-69 win in a crucial Group B game at the 23rd FIBA Asia U18 Championship on Thursday.
The win leaves Korea with the advantage of carrying two wins into the Second Round Group E, where they will take on the top three teams of Group A including ten-time and reigning gold medallists China. Philippines too make it to the Second Round – as also Jordan – from the three-team Group B Prelim Round, but will only carry forward one win, against Jordan.

The Batang Gilas U-18 (Philippine national youth basketball team) cruised to an easy victory in their tournament opener, routing Jordan, 85-60, to launch their FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship campaign on Wednesday in Doha, Qatar.
San Beda guard Radge Tongco scored 24 points on 11-for-17 shooting while Andrei Caracut had 11 points, six assists and three steals to lead Batang Gilas to its first victory.

Batang Gilas gets lucky draw in FIBA Asia U-18 Championship
Batang Gilas got the luck of the draw in the FIBA-Asia Under-18 Championship as it gained an outright stint in second round outright even before the event is fired off Tuesday in Doha, Qatar.
The Filipinos made it to Group B alongside the sharp-shooting South Koreans and Jordanians with the three teams automatically advancing to the next round since their bracket is the only one among the four groups with three teams. The rest have four members each.

Bannered by US high school prospect Kobe Paras, the squad also mentored by Jamike Jarin shall try to grab the spotlight as well when they battle foes at the FIBA Asia U-18 Championship in Doha, Qatar starting on August 19.

Batang Gilas thrashes UAE by 64 points in FIBA U-17 Worlds (FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO)
The Philippine national youth basketball team ended its long search for an elusive victory in the FIBA Under-17 World Basketball Championship after steamrolling host United Arab Emirates, 115-51, to finish its campaign on Saturday in Dubai.
Paul Desiderio scored 25 points to lead Batang Gilas as they notched their first triumph in seven tries for a 15th-place finish out of the 16 participating teams in the tournament.
Batang Gilas dominated the game from start to finish, building a cushion as large as 68 points as they avoided returning home without bagging a victory in the tournament.

Batang Gilas falls short to Argentina in FIBA U-17 Worlds (FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO)
The Philippine national youth basketball team looked impressive in mounting a late challenge but ultimately fell short against Argentina, 84-71, in the classification round of the FIBA Under-17 World Championship in Dubai, UAE.
The Batang Gilas team dropped a fifth straight assignment but gave a glimpse of some of their finest play so far after connecting on seven three-pointers in the fourth quarter to give their South Americans foes a late scare.

USA coach on Batang Gilas: If they had a big man, they’d be a much better team
Despite handing the Philippines a 60-point loss, members of the United States national youth basketball team lauded Batang Gilas for their gallant showing in the FIBA Under-17 World Championship in Dubai, UAE.
The Americans crushed the Filipinos, 124-64, in a group match last Monday. Batang Gilas went on to bow out of contention after being beaten by France, 86-57, in the Round of 16 last Tuesday.

Can anybody beat the United States? That's the main question going into the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship (8-16 August) as the USA go for a third straight title in the third edition of the event in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Americans actually haven't lost in the history of the competition, twice going 8-0 in taking the hardware in 2010 in Hamburg and 2012 in Kaunas.

Batang Gilas PHILIPPINES vs GREECE FIBA U-17 World Championship (FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO)
The Batang Gilas, Philippine national under-17 basketball team, lost to a taller, bigger Greek team, 85-65, and dropped its second consecutive game in the FIBA Under-17 World Championships Saturday night in Dubai.
Jolo Mendoza scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Batang Gilas, who were only down 17-25 at the end of the opening frame, but were outscored 21-9 in the second period. Greece pulled away completely after out-scoring the Philippines, 17-7, in the third period to take a 63-33 lead entering the final quarter.

Batang Gilas drops FIBA U-17 World Championship debut to Angola
The Philippine national youth basketball team, Batang Gilas, put together a gutsy effort but ultimately fell short against a taller, more athletic Angola side, 82-72, in their opening game in the FIBA U-17 World Championship on Friday at the Al-Ahli Arena in Dubai, UAE.
The Batang Gilas squad stayed within striking distance for most of the game, coming to as close as seven points in the fourth quarter despite falling behind by as much as 13 points in the third.
