Barangay Ginebra trades Kerby Raymundo for Jay-R Reyes

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel sent veteran forward Kerby Raymundo to the Meralco Bolts on Tuesday in exchange for center Jay-R Reyes.

The deal, which was approved by the league on Tuesday, would give the Gin Kings a younger frontliner to pair up with high-flying forward Japeth Aguilar. Ginebra is also expected to tab a young frontliner with its No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft, with Greg Slaughter and Ian Sangalang likely candidates.

Asi Taulava may not join Barangay Ginebra after all

After expressing his desire to return to Barangay Ginebra in the Philippine Basketball Association, Asi Taulava now seems set to continue his rejuvenated form in the Asean Basketball League (ABL).

Alfrancis Chua, team manager for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, reportedly said that Taulava may prefer the longer intervals between matches in the ABL.

Barangay Ginebra interested to acquire Beau Belga

Barangay Ginebra governor Robert Non bared their interest to acquire big man Beau Belga.

The 6-5, 225 pound wingman is now at the center of Rain or Shine’s negotiations as his contract is expiring at the end of the month.

Non told Solar Sports Desk that they are not directly talking to Belga, but has already sent feelers to Rain or Shine.

“Nagpadala kami ng feelers sa kanila. Just to express our interest kay Beau,” said Non.

Barangay Ginebra to pick first in 2013 PBA Rookie Draft

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel will pick first overall in the 2013 PBA draft after the Air 21 Express won the draft lottery on Friday.

The Express had a two-thirds chance of winning the top pick after finishing with the worst record this season, while GlobalPort had a one-third chance with the second-worst record.

The Gin Kings acquired the Express’ draft pick prior to the season in a multi-team trade that saw John Wilson and KG Canaleta transfer to Air 21.

Former Ginebra import returns to Manila as Indiana Pacers (VIDEO)

Former Barangay Ginebra import Donald Sloan is looking forward to his return to the Philippines, this time as a member of the Indiana Pacers.


Sloan, who played for Ginebra in the 2011 Governors’ Cup, was signed by the Pacers this off-season and will be with the team when they visit Manila on October 10 with the Houston Rockets in the first ever pre-season game to be played in the country.

LA Tenorio still dreaming of MVP award despite early Ginebra exit

LA Tenorio plunged straight into action for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Governors’ Cup without taking a break after helping Gilas Pilipinas win a silver medal in the FIBA Asia Championship.

With the Gin Kings’ campaign coming to an end, Tenorio is finally getting a well-deserved break.

Despite Ginebra’s early exit, the cerebral point guard remains one of the top contenders for the season’s Most Valuable Player award. An automatic nominee after winning Best Player of the Conference in the Commissioner’s Cup, he has stepped up his game in this tournament, playing a string of stellar games that helped boost his case.

PBA throws out Rain or Shine protest; Ginebra win stands

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s controversial victory over Rain or Shine on Saturday night will stand after the PBA threw out the Elasto Painters’ protest.

League commissioner Chito Salud addressed the issue on Sunday, saying Rain or Shine management failed to file the protest before the 12 noon deadline, deeming it invalid.

“The result of the Ginebra-Rain or Shine game stands,” said Salud.

Controversial referee Nol Quilingen called the PBA Governors Cup game between Rain or Shine and Ginebra as he saw it - nothing more, nothing less.


Finding himself right in the eye of a raging storm after calling a late foul on Beau Belga that led to Mac Baracael's winning free throws in a 101-100 Ginebra victory on Saturday, Quilingen reiterated he always make it a point to call the games as accurately as possible.
